Introduction

Rhetorical devices are a type of language that is meant to evoke a particular reaction from the audience. They can be used to inform, persuade or even debate with someone. Your tone of voice, emphasis on certain words, sentence structure and repetition, or asking rhetorical questions are all examples of rhetoric. Similes, alliteration and metaphors are common ways we see rhetorical devices.
